What "What's This" is, plus...

Well, I got some interesting answers to my "What's This"...! Glue, fizzing water, water fountain, bottle in front of window screen, a bottle of something, bottle of infused tea, water bottle held in front of a screen... Thank you to all who guessed!

So, here is more of the cropped picture...
Yes, liquid in a fancy bottle, in front of a screen...

And here is the whole thing. I'd just filled my 'pretty bottle' with clear dish-washing liquid. It was still bubbling from being poured in, and looked so pretty, in a ray of sunlight. So I put it up on the window sill over the sink, to get more sunlight through it. For a *Photo Opp*!!! Just pretty... Then I thought of the "What's This"... And went with it.

Remember the 2 little tomatoes we were watching? Well, they finally ripened...

So we got together the makings for a BLT. Well, for two BLT's but I only show one.

And here is one!There are lots and lots of tomatoes, but all green. So, the way things are going, this may be it, for BLT's from our own tomatoes, this summer. :-) Yes Sandi, please send me your True Southern Recipe for Fried Green Tomatoes. Looks like we'll be trying some, this year. :-)

:-)The old Oak tree, which can be seen out my patio door. I love this old tree. Have no idea how long it's stood there, but we've been here for nearly 40 years and it was here when we came.

I like to take a picture of one particular thing, over the changing seasons.

I'll have to take one, out my front door... too. Even though electric {etc.} lines show, in that pic. -ugh- We don't notice them, day to day. But when we take a picture, we do. Otherwise we must 'blank them out' or something.

We never put pictures of Grandchildren on the Net. But these are so fuzzy, that I think they're ok. 'Twas the youngest one's Birthday yesterday, and the first pic is of the frenzy of unwrapping. ,-) Needless to say, I've not mastered *action* shots with my camera yet!
The second pic is of him totally engrossed in a techy toy. The little screen is illuminating his face...

Now I have to download and crop all the Birthday Party pics and dispurse them to the family...

I noticed a frog, at the edge of the now working pool... So I told my husband to check the skimmer... Sure enough, there he was. Dumb little frog......

'Pop' rescued him and was going to put him into the safe little pond. He saw 8 year old Grandson next door and asked if he wanted to help. Of course! And he gently took the frog from 'Pop' and held it, for picture taking. And put him into the little pond.

Where the froggie will remain, happily ever after... if he's smart.

Btw, this is the same Grandson who had the awful Black Fly bite on his ear, a while ago. As you can see, he recovered perfectly. As little boys are want to do... :-)))

Lots'a frogies around. Granddaughter noticed this one, during the day. Really green head! Sort of weird looking. But at least, he jumped right into the lily pond, when I opened the screen. Have to take pics, through the screen, because they jump, as soon as they hear anything...... But as the season goes on, they get more and more brave. And stay sunning themselves on the rocks, even when we are out on the patio.

Vee told me about it. I was intrigued and got it from the library. A good summer read. Not always easy, because like any good story, it has both highs and lows. But, I'd recommend it.

The return of "Snowflake"...

I hope that seeing my entry title, didn't scare you into thinking we had more SNOW around these parts! ,-)

Nope, just little old 'Snowflake.' Who lives next door.

"Hooooooody~do!"

And as you can see, she is very friendly. Unlike the newer {black} kitty, next door. She comes right over when she sees me or hears my voice. She'd come right in, if i opened the screen door.

"Awwww, come on. Open up."

And she always begins to roll around on the patio steps,

"Rubbbbbbbbbbbbbb..."

and rubbbb on the screen door and look like she wants to say;
"Oh aren't I sooooo cute?"

And she is! With her big blue eyes. Which I don't think I captured well, this morning. -sigh- With those blue-blue eyes and her near whiteness {when she was younger}, she was so pretty.

"Look deeply into my blue, blue eyes."

And the way she still rolls around and etc., I do believe she thinks she looks just as pretty, in older age. And she is right! She does! :-)

.See, those little sperm-like-looking things? Well, see their shadows, down in the pond, with the bright sunlight. It has to be more and different, than I saw/photographed before! I doubt they take long to progress from frog spawn to little really-froggy-looking frogs. :-))))

Yes Dear Reader,
my husband's flowers are mighty slow in blooming this year. And so, I took pics of Clover, growing in the back yard. I love Clover anyway. I had to take them, before our next door son cut his lawn and ours.

-sigh- I think I liked it better in the old days...
When we didn't have much of a *rolling green lawn.* >,-) And when all such things as green as Clover and weeds were very welcome. 'Cause at least, they were basically green and covered the places where the pitiful grass couldn't grow.

A note about the ducks who come to our pool, before it's uncovered ~ no ducklings from them. One is a hybred or whatever, and can not reproduce. So no, we won't have to put off opening the pool, for ducklings. :-) My husband has carved many a duck 'decoy' and knows all about ducks. And that's why we know, that one, is a non-producer. :-)

This picture looks a bit like Forest Primeval, doesn't it? Nope. Just a zoom-in on some tree tops, taken from my back patio. These trees aren't on our land, but can be seen, across other back lawns. And this view is one of the reasons why I so love the view out our back patio door/window!!! LUV it!!! All times of the year.


The Lily of the Valley are near blossoming! And these are pink Lily of the Valley. :-) The originally came from an old customer of our store. Way back when my husband owned the store years ago, and used to do deliveries himself. His customers loved him and gave him things. And we love it, that old Alma's pink Lily of the Valley, still grow in our yard.

The tree to the west, is really fully out now!

More Iris!!! :-)

Oh and my husband has a question for you ladies who know Iris.... How many years do you wait, to take them up and separate them and do whatever you are supposed to do, with Iris? Please and thank you for your suggestions...

Our oldest Granddaughter pitched a wonderful JV softball game yesterday. They are undefeated, so far this season. She plays a lot of sports but softball is her favorite. We haven't been able to get to her other games, so far. So glad we could, yesterday! Her smile, every time she came off the mound, was a joy to see. :-)))

And after their coach gives them a little talk of congratulations, after the game.... They all tear off running to a side part of the field and all fall down in a heap and have a laughing good time. "High fives" and smiles and excited chattering and hugs all round. I love this, as much as the playing. It shows the camaraderie, which is such a great part of team sports. I'm so glad she has this experience.


Annnnd, I knew that her Mother {my D-i-law} was reading "our book" Twilight. But at the game, she told me that she is now hooked too! :-) She's staying up too late, reading it. Even though she's in her especially busy work time now. And she said she must have dark circles under her eyes {inside joke, for readers of the books}, because of staying up too late. I love it!!!

Now there are 4 of us, in the family, addicted to the 'Twilight' saga! Myself, 2 Grands and now a D-i-law. Another D-i-law will be next. Whether she knows it or not. She doesn't stand a chance of not reading it now. Our number has grown to too many, to resist our urging. :-))))

Theme of... Red!

My theme today, is Red, Red, Red. ^_^ Our little red Honda came home on Friday, and isn't she beautiful?!? Of course they sent her home from the shop, all washed and in perfectly clean condition. So as soon as I drove her in the driveway, after only about 5 minutes of road driving, I took her picture. By Saturday morning she had water spots on her, due to over night rain. Eeeeek! -sigh- Quelles horror! -grin- But I captured her, in all her cleaned up glory! ^_^

Look {above} at that hood! Look at the color! Look at how reflective she is.... with those trees shown on her glowing face! ^_^ Is it any wonder that we love her?!?

And, following with my Red theme... Saturday, I was able to find...

Red Shoes!!! Low heel, as I need now days. Shiny red patten leather, fake that is. ,-) I guess it's patten plastic these days but... And the toe box is too small for my *delicate* toe on my right foot. I may well be *in agony,* before we get home from the Rotary Brunch today... But! I will still have fun wearing Red shoes!

To the West
It seems we may have a less glorious Fall Foliage Season this year. -sigh- And we are due for a week of showers, rain and some wind. So I thought I'd better take another couple of pictures out my back patio view.... Before wind/rain take more leaves down. Looking back at my first pics, taken the end of last week ~~ a little bit of color change that was there, has gone already.
.To the South
Top leaves on the tall trees, are thinning out... And the "wild things" in the "jungle" next yard, have not yet turned red. Pretty blahhhh looking, all in all.

So I looked over the pool and to the East {above} and found a bit of color! Yeaaaa, finally! Most everything there, is evergreens. But some changing leaves show above. And eventually will be mixed in with the pines. Eventually. I hope. ~~ Of course I keep forgetting that this Columbus Day Weekend has been earlier this year. It's usually peak "Leaf Peeking" time. But maybe, with luck, next weekend will be much better. -fingers crossed- :-)

The Impatiens and a few pink Geraniums, by the pond, just keep blooming and blooming. I'll think it's time to pull them out and get a few pots of Mums. And then, they perk up again and it's hard to pull them out. ~~ Same with the Impatiens by the front door. They just stay perky. :-) And it would look sort of funny to have those Red, White and Blue Impatiens blooming away! And to add Fall colored Mums to the entrance step. And you hate to pull the Impatiens out.... till a hard frost 'zaps' them. Soooo... for now.... the Mums wait.

I finally picked up a copy of the Oct. 'Country Home' magazine. Mrs. Staggs told us about this magazine, back on Oct. 1. But I'd not gotten a copy. I'm so glad I finally saw one and picked it up. Yummy looking pie recipes from a new cookbook. {below}
The transformation of a Minnesota farmhouse into Country Gothic. And no, it's not as *scary* as it sounds. Honest! :-) His color scheme is too monochromatic for my taste, but it's great fun to look at.

Lots of Autumn decorating ideas, including cute ideas to make, with apples, {below}. I'm not that 'into' buying magazines any more. ~~I know, I know... That's *heresy*! ,-)
This is the only one I've purchased so far this Autumn, and it's probably enough. :-)

Views of tree tops, out back door...

Yesterday, I showed an evening view, taken outside our back patio door. This morning I took a couple, there also. So I thought I begin a series of shots, to the same West and South directions. Now. Later in the Autumn. Early Winter. Deep Winter. Etc.

So... The following photo is facing to the West. Same as yesterday's evening shot.


And the one below, is facing to the South.

These were taken on October 5th. I hope to keep taking them every once in a while, and show the color of the leaves changing. And then to show when all but the pine trees, have lost their leaves. Etc. Etc.

In nice weather, can step outside my door, as I did for these. When the rains of November come, I may have to just open the door and take a quick pic, before I get wet. And surely, in Winter, I'll stay inside. We get too much in the way of slippery conditions on those couple of steps down to the patio, to venture out that way, most of the time. But the pics will be as close to the same view/direction, as I can get. Just for fun and for a topic for some continuing photos.


Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd, I'm trying to do better with putting photos on my photo blogs. If I want people to keep looking at them, I have to put photos up regularly. I am really going to try... Again... Honest... :-))
