Trying to wish a Happy.......

It's hard to concentrate on Wishing Everyone a Happy September, with all the sad news concerning hurricane Gustav.

Hard to contemplate the beauty and joy of Autumn in the NE, when so many people have been displaced from their homes, by this random act of nature. My heart goes out to all of them. And my attention seems to keep returning to the news of Gustav.

I'm lucky enough to be enjoying a magnificent day in my safe and secure home. It would be fun to simply look at the beauty of nature today, and contemplate the 'Baking Urge' which comes over me, when Autumn is near. :-) But I can't, totally.

But I'm not indulging in constant news, news, news, either. For one thing, it kind of 'drives my husband crazy' to have constant news on the tv. He being wise! Because when we stay immersed in troubles, about which we can do nothing at the moment, it's of no help to anyone. Not to the people affected. Nor to ourselves, nor those around us, in our own little circle.

But I wanted to wish everyone a Happy September.

Even though our country's heart is heavy, for those who are being so disrupted and hurt by this hurricane.

It is hot and humid and a wee bit steamy and it almost feels like we are swimming or floating, in a mist. And toward evening, the mists are all about...... Will-o'-the-wisp weather!

Now doesn't that sound better, than just moaning about the heat/humidity? :-) Don't close yourself in A/C. Put on some 'Off' if necessary {mosquitoes love me -sigh-}, and go out into the mists in the fields and look for faeries...... Or if there aren't any true fields nearby, go into the closest green spot. If you don't have a garden, find some tiny wild flowers or even clover. Clover is everywhere! And peek under a leaf. Maybe...... Just maybe...... With all the steamy mistiness...... Just maybe you'll find a faerie or two. Or just catch the shimmer of their wings, as they quickly fly away...... :-)

I saw a lovely entry on {click-->} Story Book Woods blog. She and her girls decided to have a {click-->} "Tasha Tudor Day." ...... To remember all the things they love about Tasha. Above is one of my favorite pictures. I loved it so, that my husband got a beautifully framed copy of it for me, some years ago. I still love it.

May you wander in a garden or a grove, this evening. Stepping gently of course, so as not to crush any flowers in your path. Because tonight, there may be faeries dancing beneath them. Or beneath their sheltering leaves.

Tread softly then. Maybe bringing out a drop of honey on a leaf, to leave for the faeries. Aren't they supposed to love sweet things?

And perhaps when the Fire Flies come out, blinking their soft lights... Maybe if you gently lift up a leaf... Maybe, just maybe, you will find some faeries dancing under it. :-)

Rotary International... "Service above self" My husband loves belonging to his local chapter and has been in it for a longggg time. His club is gathering memorabilia, and he had some things to bring to the meeting yesterday. I took a picture of this old newspaper clipping, before he took it. ************
It's a picture from the 1984 Rotary Installation Dinner, when my husband was installed as local Rotary President for a year. He is second from the left. Of the six shown, only my husband and the man on the far right, are still with us. I was struck by this, when we looked at the photo. And thought it was worth keeping a picture of. :-)

The Full June Strawberry Moon had burned away the clouds, and was shining gloriously, last night. But I fell asleep on the couch and when I woke up, I could only go outside and get this photo, sort of through the huge tree to the south. And it's not that good. But I will be visiting other gals today, and I bet they got great shots of the Full Moon! :-)

And oh yes, it was glorious from our bedroom window, when I went upstairs! But I'd have had to have both the window up and the screen up too, to take a picture. And go back down stairs to get the camera. {Some sweet person asked what camera it is... It's a Canon Zoom Lens 10XIS. And I have NOT mastered it yet! Not, not, not. I just shoot. And try using the zoom. And there are so many more instructions in the book...which I have never had the 'guts' to try. Yet!}

So all I did was gaze it it, almost mesmerized. Such glorious beauty! I was struck with the thought that ~ Even in today's modern world, where we know what the moon is, and have walked on its surface, and have so much ambient lighting around, which cuts our true view of the night skies ~ Even with all this, the Full Moon still has the power to amaze us, with its glorious beauty. Is it any wonder that the ancient peoples were in awe of it?

They who could see the moon and the stars through a crystal clear atmosphere, not yet clouded by modern pollution... And not surrounded by lights of a city... They who could gaze on the night sky, in its full and awe inspiring beauty... Is it any wonder that they felt awe and power and amazement? And that they felt insignificant, under it all? And that they revered the Celestial Bodies, as Gods?

And feeling so tiny and largely helpless, on this not-so-friendly-at-times Earth... Is it any wonder that they began to feel that these Celestial Bodies, which maybe were Gods, could be of help to them?

Humans seem to never outgrow the need for 'mothering,' in order to feel safe and secure. They try to "grow up." They really try to. But when things get tough, they want to again be "taken care of," somehow. Humans seem to cling to the need to have Help From On High, to make them feel safe and secure. Many humans will not dare face the Universe, on its own terms. Simply accepting it, as is. And not needing answers and reasons and total knowledge of everything. Even of "Life" and of "Death."

So I fully understand how the ancients, looked to the sky, for protection and security and care and sureness. Last night, mesmerized by the beauty of the Full Moon, I could almost feel, what they must have felt. And fully understand their need, to have felt it.

More of my husband's Peonies. Not mine. Not mine. My husband is the gardener! ~~ I want to label this picture as "Sleeping Peonies," somehow. The buds look like they are not awake yet. And the big flower in the middle, looks kind of sleepy too. :-)

My Nuclear Stress Test results are allllllllll normal!



Last time, there was some 'disrepancy.' Not so this time. So maybe, eating so as to not increase plaque buildup in veins, and taking Lipitor, have made them even better.

In a couple of weeks, when I get the results of all the Gastro testing... I still have one more test to go... Anyway, when I get all of those results... And then can hopefully know how to proceed with eating and the like, things will be even better.

Knowing!!! {Such as am I lactose intolerant or not?} Plus other things... Instead of trying this and trying that and never knowing, for sure... What's ok to eat and what's not and etc.

Accomplishments! Joy!

Joy! I'm accomplishing things... While taking this semi-Net-break! It's amazing. ,-)
No, it's not amazing. Duhh me. What's amazing is, that I'm doing it.

We've been arranging furniture. And re-arranging it. Moving one piece, from here to there. And another piece, from there to here. {Thank you Pat, for the inspiration! I'm no where as talented as you are, at this. But I'm trying more. And that's an accomplishment.}

Plus, getting rid of more things which don't fit William Morris' guide... which goes something like ~ Have in your home, only that which is useful or that which you love and it brings you joy. Something like that. We all know the general meaning. Putting it in force, is the issue. And it feels so good when I keep doing some more!!! Of that getting rid of 'stuff.'

The sun shines brightly today!!! {Yes Vee, -grin- this *is blog-worthy,* because we won't see it again, until Saturday! -sigh-} So I'd better make sure I soak as much of it up as possible, today.

I hope you are accomplishing whatever you want to, today. Doing... Or resting... Or whatever. Makes no difference. As long as it's what you want to do. :-)

I was reading a study which concluded that ~ if you find small things that make you feel good, and do them on a regular basis, your overall level of happiness is greater than falling in love or winning the lottery.



It seems that little things that taste good, smell good, or delight the senses can be very significant when systematically included in your daily routine. Violets for the soul may be one of your best investments, especially if you consider the fact that people who feel good are significantly less likely to be tardy, absent, ill, or involved in accidents of all kinds.

I was trying to comment in someone's blog, when I got the notice that Google had basically declared me a danger to everyone. And had made me "dead in the water," as to posting and commenting.

Eeeeek!!!

So far, I have checked the following things...

I am allowed to comment, in my own blog.
And I am allowed to post entries, in my own blog.
Now to see if I can comment, in any other blogs.

It worked. I could comment in Vee's blog!!!

Slowly, 'the light is dawning' in my little brain. I was trying to leave a click-able link back to this blog, in comments. Because now and then, my regular click-able link back, does not work. {Meaning, it takes you to a page, which erroneously says I do not allow anyone to access my Profile Page.} So... I figured, I'd better leave a link to 'smilnsigh,' after my signature.

But!

Some blogs allow one to leave a click-able link. And some do not. So I was switching back and forth, between two versions of my signature + blog link. Betcha' I messed up my link back, on the last comment try. And it got garbled. And Google thus thought it looked like I was
'An Evil Bot' or 'Something Sent By A Virus'!! Eeeeeeek!!!!!

Me, on a Mac, who can't get infected with those nasty things, anyway.
