Remember the Granddaughter who will be taking Tap lessons this year? She also got things for another class, this weekend. She's been taking ballet for some time, but at a very intense school. Neither Mommy {nor I} thought she really needed this intenseness. Very few little girls will go on to dance with the 'New York City Ballet.' So she and Mommy decided she would try something different, at a different school of dance. But she still wanted to achieve "sur la pointe." So she is taking this class, as well as Tap. But in a much more relaxed atmosphere.
They went to get her Pointe shoes and her leotard, this weekend. It's quite exciting and I took some more pictures. :-)
All of which make me ponder ~~ On the topic of taking another chance, on a dream.
My Grand wasn't fully done with her ballet dream. She still wanted to achieve learning to dance on pointe. And Mommy gave her that chance.
Do we give ourselves "another chance"? We all have things, which seemed wonderful at the time, but have proved less than wonderful, after a while. But maybe we aren't totally through with the dream. Maybe we wish we could try just one more part of it... Before we kiss-it-good-bye and move on. Do we give ourselves this chance? Are we kind enough to ourselves, to do so?
Do we remember what it was like to be a little girl, and to want something? Something which seemed so beautiful to us, then. Do we remember being allowed to try further? Or do we remember being told that; "It was all pretty silly, in the long run" and now was the time to move on fully? Perhaps our experience back then, has molded how we treat 'the little girl' who still lives inside us, even today...
Thanks to a very wise and loving Mommy, my Granddaughter will remember being given the chance to finish her dream. And a very lucky little girl, she is.
