Addition... Please read.

Please bear with me, for this addition. ~~~~~~ I copy below, a comment I put in someone's blog. And I think it bears repeating, here.

----------------------

"...Bill James puts it, we should look upon their {Founding Fathers and all who came before us} failings with sympathy, in hopes that future generations will look upon ours the same way. There are plenty of books willing to expose hypocrisy and corruption and evil in American history, but to focus on just the dark passages misses the point."

Hi Xxxxxxx and thank you for commenting in my blog. And thank you for the above, which you posted. I always claim our faults {even though, I didn't, in the one entry of mine, which you came upon}. I never say we are or have been perfect. But I never agree with those who say we are totally imperfect. See? Sort of middle of the road. I like the middle of the road. :-)

I like common sense. And common sense says that no human being or their institutions, were always *purrrrrfect.*

But I still claim the right to be patriotic. In a common sense way. I claim the right to love my country, in the same way that I love my family and my 'home town.' With all it's glories and all it's flaws. And with the expectation that they each, will work on getting things 'closer to right.' Closer to what common sense says, is 'the right.'

Happy 6th of July. May all citizens of all countries, see their own faults. And work at righting them. But may we all speak confidently, that we will do so. And not join those who holler "We are badddddddddddd and we are dooooooomed."
