Little brother of Peyton Manning. He of the the rocket arm and tactical mastery.
But it's sad to say that it was being wondered , had the family gene pool gone empty, by the time Eli waded in?
But Eli produced a career effort against the Patriots last night!
And still being a nice guy... he said;
"It's exciting, but it's not about me. It's about this whole team."
I've not watched or paid much attention to the Super Bowl in a long time. My most vivid memory of being totally involved, was years ago, when Joe Namath guaranteed a Super Bowl victory for a three-touchdown underdog New York Jets team - and then delivered.
But that was Broadway Joe. A star for his time.
Today, it's oh so nice to root for "an ordinary guy." No swinging image. No personal bravado. Just a good football player, from a football dynasty,
who has come into his own.
