Shiny...

Shiny... Somehow, I love that word. :-)

The Dictionary says; 1) Radiating light, bright 2) Bright from reflected light, glistening 3) Having a sheen from being rubbed or worn smooth.

To me, shiny 'says' fun and frivolous and bouncy and happy and making me want to clap my hands and etc. In Live Journal, one could have a certain number of Icons. {Little pics like what we choose to show up by our comments, here in Blogger} And I used to love the "Oh shiny" ones. But people had made them, themselves and it wasn't 'nice' to 'steal' them and use them, yourself.

"Oh shiny" ones just 'said' so much fun, to me. Even though I never had one. Not only for not being able to make them... But also because they seemed to go with a younger person. "Oh shiny" just doesn't sound appropriate, being 'said' by anyone past their 20's.

So maybe that's part of its charm too... The idea that it goes with youth.

Every period of life can have its perks. But
let's face it... as we age, we have to work harder at seeing them and internalizing them. :-) So perhaps, in a later period of my life, 'shiny' speaks for all the joys of that full-of-life feeling of youth.

And that's fine too. We say we should "make memories." And for what are we making them? To remember them, of course. So what's the matter with memories from long ago, as well as memories from yesterday or last week or last year? :-)

Shiny... Shiny... Shiny... It makes me smile. So I will continue to love that word...
