When we hold up a mirror, we see ourselves. But do we see the self, we wish to see? In our on-line-journaling {what can I say, I like that term better, than the term 'blogging'}...
In our on-line-journaling, what mirror of ourselves, do we hold up to the world? The self we know? Or the self we wish for?
Does our on-line-journaling show our real selves? Or does it show the self, we aspire to? The self we wish we were? Does our on-line-journaling show the life, we know we lead? Or does it pick and choose? Only showing the parts which fit the life, we wish we could always live?
What is the basis for the kind of on-line-journaling, each of us does? Of course, we do it, the way we choose to. We are free!
And it seems we do it, in the way which makes us happy. Human beings are 'wired' to seek joy and avoid pain. {Even when it seems we are doing the very opposite. To us, we still see it, this way, if we really take a close look.} So we {may} all agree that we each make a free conscious or unconscious choice, when we write our entries... that of making us feel good in some way.
Then comes the question of.... Why does our particular choice of what we write about, make us happy? What does it do, for us? What are we seeking, when we put our own type of entries out there, for the whole World Wide Net to read? Do we journal as we do, because it is simply fun for us? If only our fun is primary, we could do that, in a completely private pen/and/paper written journal. Writing on the 'WWN', it seems we'd also like to get feedback on what we write. Feed-back on the Net, translates into finding comments on our entries.
Getting comments gives us 'strokes' {acknowledgment of approval}, which is a natural human need. Do we journal as we do, to get lots of comments? I think most agree, that happy-pretty-up-beat entries, are what people want to read. So naturally, this type brings the most readers. And the more readers approve, the more they tend to leave comments. How important to us, is the amount of comments we get?
Phullleeeeze, don't anyone say "no." Of course everyone writing on the 'WWN', wants comments! :-)
Sooooo, what is the purpose of our individual choice of journaling style?
Why did we make our choice?
Do we ever review our choice?
Is there any reason to review it?
Does our choice of journaling style, fulfill us?
Fulfill us, enough?
