Avoiding Dec. 26th letdown...

That December 26th letdown...

I think we've all experienced it... -sigh-

Soooo ~~ Is there anything we can do, to avoid it?

There's a week off from school, still to go. And even with new toys, children get bored. It's really hard on them. All that time of 'being good' and anticipation and.... Poof! It's all over in a few hours really. So ~~ Is there anything for them, which really could be put off, till after Christmas?

I'm not coming up with many 'great ideas,' but.... Maybe you who are closer to those days [with small children], can. If you think about the possibility. Do all the Christmas cookies have to be made before? Could some day, in the week after Christmas, become a tradition of making cookies with the children? Then, they'd not really have to be purrrrfect either. It could be just-for-fun and creativity. No matter how "imperfect", they would love them, just the same. And anyone who loves them/children, would love them also.

Now it's up to you young Mothers, to think of what could be moved to after Christmas, in your households.... If you like the idea, of course.

I too can have that letdown. No matter what one's age, it can come. I just know I'm not going to get to enjoy going through all my Christmas books and magazines, before the 25th. It's just not going to happen... again. So I want to adjust my mind-set, so that I can enjoy doing it, just as much, in the following days. Really take that idea of "The 12 Days of Christmas" to heart. In the old days, when they really celebrated
"The 12 Days of Christmas," they certainly could enjoy much, during the Dec. 25th to Jan. 5th period. Why can't I?

I've never managed to read Rosamunde Pilcher's 'Winter Solstice.' Although I have enjoyed other books of hers. I think I'll plan on reading this, during the 12 Days of Christmas, this year.

Well, I don't have a lot of ideas. But ~~ it's a start. If you have any others, please share them. I feel a lot of us, would like to try out, this idea.
